Amazon called it a “temporary surcharge.” They didn’t define temporary. They didn’t provide a sunset clause. They didn’t explain why their 3.5% surcharge is more than double what UPS and FedEx are charging their customers for the same conditions.
What they did do is send every FBA seller a form email with two weeks notice.
This isn’t about $0.17 per unit. It’s about a pattern — unilateral fee increases on a captive marketplace with no negotiation, no appeal, and no alternative. If you sell on Amazon, you pay. That’s not a partnership. That’s a toll booth.
